Reviewing The Reviewer: NerdCubed

Ooooh, a new series ‘ey? Yeah, thought I’d do something a little different from reviewing a game and actually review a game creator and sort of game reviewer I don’t know if you can call him that but he does a pretty good job of reviewing games and making me want to play things regardless.

So, Nerd3 (Dan Hardhat or whatever his name is) is a YouTuber that creates gaming content and stuff. He also makes games like I stated in my previous paragraph. I’ve actually played a few of them (How to Snooker and Systems Nominal) and they’re extremely fun games, I really enjoyed them.

I enjoyed the games, but did I enjoy his YouTube content? Of course I bloody did, he’s a talented individual. His content is varied and there’s pretty much something for everyone on his channel. You like first person shooters? He’s done videos on Battlefield and Call of Duty. You like simulators? Well aren’t you in for a treat, he’s done videos on Euro Truck Simulator, OMSI, Farming Simulator, everything.

Nerd3 definitely offers a new perspective on games, the comedic timing and nature of his content is sublime and it has this strange charm attached to it.

A variety of series is always good and Nerd3 delivers on that too. Now, the channel just recently went under some changes so he’s actually brought out a few new game series and finished some others. Personally, I’d check out the Nerd3’s Hell series. It’s extremely entertaining and offers a critically correct and comedic analysis of some utterly awful games like Ride to Hell: Retribution and Grass Simulator.

Another series of his I’ve always been a fan of is the Nerd3 Completes series, in which Dan, well, it’s quite obvious isn’t it? He completes a game. Most recently I think was Futurama the game? I’m not sure, I’ll check, later. Very entertaining to see Dan try and finish some arguably mediocre games.

With that, I can’t really find anything negative about Nerd3 apart from when you type out his name you need to use the cubed symbol instead of just writing NerdCubed, I’ll never forgive him for that. I just can’t forgive him and I never will.

Hm, still got another few hundred words to kill. Maybe I should’ve done two reviewers instead of just one? No, wait, Nerd3 has an IRL channel that I can review as well, because the IRL channel is completely different to the gaming channel.

So what does Nerd3 do on his IRL channel? Well, he has a few series going at this point in time, which are Nerd3’s Fat, Nerd3’s Bricking It and I think he does vlogs still maybe, I think he does. He’s on and off with his IRL channel. I’ve never honestly watched the “Fat” series but I did watch “Bricking It” and very much enjoyed the videos.

I’m still hesitant to call Nerd3 a reviewer though. Yes, he does give his opinion on games but never really states the pros and cons of the game he’s playing. Which is actually a good thing. He gets his opinion across without too extremely alienating people from trying the game out for themselves. I’ve played quite a few games I’ve seen Nerd3 love/hate and I’m pretty much agreed with his opinion on all of them, examples of this being Spec Ops the Line and Euro Truck Simulator 2.

In short, Nerd3 is a truly marvellous reviewer/youtuber and the sheer fact that he can form a noteworthy opinion and not alienate his viewers from giving the game a go of their own is something that I commend and am always trying to incorporate into my articles, albeit not very well.
